1st IWEC successfully held in Hannover

1st International Wind Engineering Conference - Support Structures and Electrical Systems

At the 1st International Wind Engineering Conference (IWEC) held from 2nd to 3rd September 2014 in Hannover, recent developments concerning support structures and electrical systems of wind energy converters have been presented. The inauguration of the test center for support structures in Marienwerder in attendance of Stephan Weil (Prime Minister of Lower Saxony) and Uwe Beckmeyer (Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy) was part of the conference. The conference was attended by about 120 participants from academia and industry, from various countries.  Keynote speakers were Jos Beurskens (ECN, Netherlands), Freede Blaabjerg (Aalborg University, Denmark), Michael Muskulus (NTNU, Norway), and Kerstin Lange (ISL, Germany).  The conference was organized by ForWind Research Center for Wind Energy, Leibniz Universität Hannover in collaboration with Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy Systems Technology (IWES) and was supported by the European Acadamy of Wind Energy (EAWE).
