TTH 2.0: A New Milestone for the Test Centre Support Structures Hannover

The Test Centre Support Structures Hannover (TTH) has secured €11.6 million in funding for its modernization and expansion. TTH 2.0 will significantly strengthen large-scale testing capabilities for the next generation of wind energy support structures.

𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐢𝐛𝐧𝐢𝐳 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭y 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫!

 We are delighted to celebrate an important milestone for the Test Centre Support Structures Hannover (TTH): around €11.6 million in funding has been approved for the modernization and expansion of the research infrastructure towards TTH 2.0.

The expansion will significantly enhance the large-scale experimental capabilities at TTH, including a new testing hall with facilities for loads of up to 10 MN, advanced measurement technology, and a modernized foundation engineering test pit. These developments will open up exciting new possibilities for testing and developing the next generation of wind energy structures. Under the leadership of Prof. Elyas Ghafoori (Managing Director of TTH) and Prof. Raimund Rolfes (Deputy Head and Co-Founder of TTH), together with the other members of the TTH Board of Directors, the TTH management team, and its dedicated staff, the test centre continues to bring together expertise across institutes and disciplines to advance large-scale experimental research in wind energy and structural engineering. 

Since its establishment in 2014, TTH has provided a unique research environment for investigating onshore and offshore wind turbine support structures in close cooperation with Fraunhofer-Institut für Windenergiesysteme (IWES). With TTH 2.0, we are excited to see this infrastructure enter its next chapter and enable even more ambitious research in the years ahead. 👏 Congratulations to the entire TTH team and everyone involved in making TTH 2.0 possible!
